First trip of 2024 Review

First trip of 2024 in the books

My first trip of 2024 is in the books.  This is what I call my "shake down" trip.  Just a quick weekend trip only two hours from my house.  I use this trip to get back into the swing of things and make sure the equipment is ready for my bigger and longer trips.

The past couple years, I have been using my iKamper Sky Mini 3.0 on a Jeep Gladiator.  Over the winter, I decided to trade in the Gladiator and move to a full size truck (Chevy Silverado).  I could not be more happy with the move.  I am not here to "bash" the Gladiator, it was an awesome vehicle, but I find (for the kind of camping I do) the Silverado to be better in every way.  Bigger, more room, more comfortable, more powerful, better fuel mileage.  It just works better (again for the style camping I do).  I could not be more happy with my decision.

As for my equipment?  I tried out my heated sleeping back for the first time.  Temps got down to around 31 degrees early in the morning and having that was GREAT.  It plugs into a "battery brick" via USB A and it kept me warm (until my brick died, but I had another one on standby).  My one burner stove and Coleman griddle worked flawless.

There are a couple tweaks I want/need to make before my next trips (that will be more off the grid).  I need more lighting for my tent, need to purchase some molly panels for my Billiebars.  Overall, the "Shake Down" trip was a success.

When OGS replaced the Jeep Gladiator with the 2023 Chevy Silverado, our goal was to find a solution that would allow us to have a bed cover and a rooftop tent.

What did we find?  BILLIEBARS

(Note:  Billiebars is not a sponsor of our website, we just love shouting out great companies to our fans, so please check them out at the link to the right)

As you see our iKamper Sky Camp 3.0 Mini RTT mounts perfectly to the Billiebars.

But wait there is more.  The Billiebars also work with our roll up bed cover.  We could not be more pleased with this solution and this great American Company.  Please check them out and let them know OGS sent you!!!
